Greasy. That was just plain greasy.
Leading 13–12 in the fifth game of a hotly contested Club Champs Final,
Grant Bergman & Adam Radziminski had opponents Marvin Mizinski
& Andrew Smart on the run. Shots were routinely rung off the back wall,
and diving saves on tight drop shots, boasts and reverses.
Finally, Marv desperately
retreated and was barely able to fire a soft shot off the back wall, landing
perfectly in the front right corner for Grant to line up and fire. And like
the good teeball player Grant is, he took his time and wound up, with Andrew
standing just a few feet behind him.
And as he struck the ball, something funny happened. It didn't hit his
strings. In fact, it didn't even hit his frame. It hit the outside of his
bumper guard! The ball flew off the front wall into the front right nick,
further shooting out from the nick directly between his legs and just far
enough away from Andrew to be a winner.
Andrew & Marv looked like the rug had been pulled from under their feet.
Adam smiled, and Grant snickered,
Greasy. That was just plain greasy.
