| Well, we all know Nicola to be lovely and talented, but we now realize her to also be shrewd and savvy. Nicola and Viktor surprised no one by going on to capture the Mixed Open title, while Tim found himself an equally lovely and talented partner in Michelle Smith, and they went on to take the Cons Final. Despite all of the family success, we still would like to be flies on the wall during Christmas Dinner at the Martins… |

| Mens 40+ Over the summer, Mark Heaney informed us that he had run the tournament for 11 years, and felt that it was time to hand over the reins. Mark went on to help us out immensely, and, with longtime partner, Kevin Johnson, went on to win the 40+ Division. |

After the hard fought win over Marv Mizinski and Doug Buchanan, Mark proclaimed that in 13 years of running the tournament, he had never won an event. By Sunday, Mark was heard telling the wine and cheese crowd that the curse of the Western Canadian Doubles was finally lifted, after 15 years of running the tournament. Whatever the number of years, the “Curse of Running the Tournament” is still widely debated (see below). |
