Dear Members:

A new season is well under way, and there is more happening this season than ever before. Evergreen is quickly becoming the place to be (details listed below). But, first some Board of Directors matters.

Wanted: Junior Director
& committee members

The junior program at Evergreen has always been among the most successful in the province. It has been built on the strength of volunteer directors and committee members. We are currently seeking a new junior director. Please contact me at 778.893.2575 or admin@evergreensquash.com if you are interested.

Court Repairs and Closures

Courts 1 & 5 will be closed until December 15 undergoing necessary cleaning and repairs.

Membership Drive Update

Led by Katherine Walker, Charles Bristow, Jim Miller, and many others, the membership drive is coming into full swing. We can use your help in:

1. Participate – We have more drop-in programs and events than ever! Come out and play, or even just stop by and watch. If you have any ideas for a new program, please let us know. We are always looking for ways to make the club a more exciting place.
2. Promoting the club – Our marketing budget is only slightly less than that of Nike's, so it would be great if you could put a poster up on your local supermarket bulletin board, slap on a bumper sticker, etc, etc.
3. Tell a friend / colleague / family member – Word of Mouth is the most effective form of advertising.
4. Play a new member – Joining the club and starting the game is an intimidating process. To make it easier, we are compiling a list of players to play with those new to the game. If you are interested in getting on to this list, please email: info@evergreensquash.com.

Recent Events

We have hosted a number of successful events over the past month or so, including: the Evergreen Junior Tournament, the Western Canadian Doubles Tournament, and the Halloween Calcutta - on top of regular league and in-house activities. Please visit the website for summaries and photos of any of these events.

Upcoming Events

Christmas Calcutta

After the success of the Halloween Calcutta, we have scheduled a Christmas Calcutta for Monday, December 15 at 6pm. Same format as last time, and entry information will be sent out soon.

Young Adult Drop-in

We will be starting Young Adult drop–ins at various times throughout the week, until we find the best suited time, with the least impact on bookings. The first try will be this Thursday, December 4 at 9pm. All levels welcome!

PSA Tournament

Paul Marley, tournament organizer extraordinaire is already busy working on getting ready for one of the biggest squash events in Canada. Please take a minute to review his latest letter. The tournament can use help with volunteers, patrons, benefactors, sponsors, and players!

Friday Night Doubles

We continue to have a weekly in-house forum for our best doubles players to battle for club supremacy. It will be entertaining to participate, and to watch. Please contact Scott Sibley or Tim Martin for more details.
