This is Your Chance to Give Back to Evergreen Squash Club !!!
The Club is looking for individuals to contribute toward the success of the club by volunteering to spend a minimum 1 hour per week as a board member. Meetings are held once a month.
The Club needs engaged individuals that are up for being part of a team responsible for governing the Club and promoting Squash. If you have some energy and are motivated to put forth effort to make our great club even better, please contact Rob Forrest at robf@gulfpacific.ca before May 8th, 2013.
As an added bonus, board members that attend a minimum of 8 meetings will receive a free membership next year.
If there are not enough members to populate the board we will be spending additional funds to have someone manage those tasks and this could result in higher dues next season.

The Canadian Junior Nationals were held this past weekend (April 19-20) at Sport Central, and several of our juniors posted impressive results! Michele Garceau placed 3rd in the girls U17 event, and Sam Ejtemai, a former Evergreen Junior, won the boys U19.

This year’s event will be held June 8th at The Arbutus Club. Over the last six years, the event has raised more than $13,000 for the 2020 Fund, with all proceeds to benefit Junior Squash.

We have arranged for a Personnel Trainer from Stak Fitness to be at the Club Monday, April 29th from 10:30am to noon to demonstrate how to get the most out of the new equipment.

Our apologies, but due to scheduling issues we are closing entries for the singles events a little earlier. This is to ensure the draws will be done by no later than Sunday afternoon.
If you missed the new deadline, contact Phil and he will do his best to accomodate. But, remember, the original deadline was Friday, April 5th, at 6pm PST — so don't expect miracles if your request is made later than that.
P.S. It's my — Rick K — schedule causing the problem, so please don't blame Phil.

The drawsheets for the doubles portion of the Club Championships should be posted by 1:00pm this afternoon (Sunday). Everyone playing Tuesday has been notified by Phil.
There are no tournament matches on Wednesday April 3rd as the Vancouver Doubles Squash League has the court booked. Tournament matches will resume Thursday.

The gym will be on reduced operation as of 10am Saturday, March 30, as the old equipment is being removed and the room is prepared for the new equipment…
Gym Equipment Update

New qym equipment is to arrive in the next 2 weeks or so. We need to remove the old equipment by Tuesday, April 2nd. Silent auction posted on the entry wall at the club. The equipment is very reasonably priced and although it is ‛as is, where is’ it has all been checked by a technician. The auction closes Thursday March 28 at 8pm.
Also, we would like to freshen up the room with a new coat of paint. Anyone who could take on that task would be very much appreciated.

Khosrowkiani Wins S2S Squash Crown

Hamid Khosrowkiani, one of our own, wins the Men's A at this year's Sea to Sky Squash Tournament held at the Squamish Squash Club. He bested his friend and fellow Evergreen member Farzin Habibpour in the final.
The Squamish Chief has an article covering the tournament and Hamid's win (as well as his sleeping arrangements).

2013 Canadian Masters Team Championships

The Canadian Masters Team Championships were hosted this past weekend at VRC, where our BC #1 team, comprised of 4 men and 3 women, lost, narrowly, in the finals to team Ontario.
Congratulations to Bonnie Cooney, Deidre Smith, Laura Ramsay (all 3 Evergreen members), Barry Gifford, Trevor Latimer, Mark O'Neill, and Steve Lawton on a fine performance!
For the record, Team BC 2 was Robert Pacey, Brian McGaw, Tom Clark, Rick Ng, Anna Kirbyson, Brooke Macey, and Donna Pakulak.

Chef, come Evergreen squash player, announces his new restaurant's opening:
It's been a big week at Canyon and I can now share our opening schedule. We will be hosting a few private events this weekend to give our staff the chance to work out the kinks before we open our doors.
We'll be open for business as of Tuesday, January 22 for dinner only, and for brunch starting on Saturday, January 26. We're really looking forward to meeting those of you we haven't met, and hosting those of you who already know us!
Please also note that we are participating in Dine Out Vancouver so will have our a la carte menu as well as a Prix Fixe menu option for those that want to check us out.
