All of our teams playing Wednesday picked up bonus points.
Super week.
Division 1
The marvelous men of the Lawn are still firmly in first place, however, Tim and the boys had revenge for their bad loss in the season opener. Tim Martin teamed up with Mark Heaney but lost to Justin Todd and David Goldsmith in four. Adam Radziminski made a rare appearance and teamed up with Andrew Smart. They beat up on John Hungerford and Brian MacFarlane in 3 straight. Why is it so satisfying to beat the Lawn??
Also in division 1 play, Evergreen's Matt Sullivan teamed up with Bobby Toor for SPC and lost in four to Brian Covernton and Nigel Amon. Jason deJong, also of Evergreen partnered Glen McNeil for a 3/0 win over Jody Evans and Eng Khoon Chua.
Kevin and Rob Johnson are getting to be tougher and tougher each week out. They got a 3/1 win for Hollyburn over VRC's Geoff Williams and Brendan George.
Division 2
Les Kerluke's team sliced and diced their way to a 8/0 night over VRC. Les Kerluke and Patrick Au beat Gordon Pybus and Randy Mottus. Kevin Gillett and Rob Dubois beat Gerry Takeuchi and Tim Mosley.
The Fishin' Boys picked up an 8 point night at the expense of SPC. Jim Miller and John Andrew won in 5 over Sean Peever and Colin Caldwell. Les Jamieson and Richard Martin won in four against Calvin Mah and Warren Woodman.
Some of our members who also belong to Hollyburn did not have such a good night.
Mike Jackson and Gary Bombay lost in 5 to Blake Pottinger and Paul Gray. Martin Kaffka lost in four to Roland Haebler and Ken Mackenrot.
Division 3
Only one match this week.
SPC had the bye and Evergreen's Gringos and Muckers will meet Dec 16 in a date deferred match.
The only match was an 8 point night for Hollyburn. Chris Davies and Dave Canning beat George Maddison and Matt Garrey 3/2. Mark Spooner and Bill James won in four against Gary Wong and Bob Rutherford.
Division 4
Mike Tooley and his team again picked up 8 points. A close 3/2 win for Mike Tooley and Derek Andrew over Kelsey Parsons (also of Evergreen) and Richard Freeman. Iain Savill and Ron Springer thrashed Warren Hopwood and Gordon Bitney. Had Iain not slammed the ball into the floor 8 feet short of the front wall, it would have been a champagne game. Well against the Lawn it is never really a Champagne game as they did not honour the 15/0 game that Annette and partner inflicted on them last year.
Gosh it's nice to thrash the Lawn.
From the horse's mouth
Mike's coverage of the evening is a little more excited than Lynn's calm review.
I offered to send in the results as there does not appear to be an official Captain for the VSL
team and I would do it anyway. (Humbly) particularly as we 'whipped em' again!!!
VLT - Kelsey Parsons and Richard ? (lets call him...Solid - big fu..er)
vs
EVGRN - Mike (El Capitano) T. & Derek (The Springbok) Andrew
15 - 11 / 9 - 15 / 15 - 9 / 5 - 15 / 5 - 15
VLT 2 / EVGRN 3
VLT - Gordon Bitney and Warren ? (Good looking - lets call him 'Beatty')
vs
Iain (Silly) Savill & Ron ("go get it boy") Springer
3 - 15 / 1* - 15 / 8 - 15
VLT 0 / EVGRN 3
Note* Would have heard the corks popping and seen the bubbles arising except for one of ‛silly's’
classic slap down shots which not only missed the front wall but was approx, 20 feet short of it!!!
