Evergreen Friday Night Doubles

Results: 2008.10.03

The First Edition of Friday Night Doubles (FND!) a Roaring Success

The inaugural session of FND! was played on Oct 3rd, with Marvin Mizinski and Les Kerluke taking the huge cash prize away — I'm sure there was enough there to head to Tim Hortons for a double double.

The night was a test run to determine how to structure the future nights insuring they fit into a 3 hour time slot. In doing so, we have got the format down and will be moving the regular FND! to commence at 7:00 rather than 6:00 — perhaps this will allow the competitors to eat dinner before playing. I noticed that bowl of chips and salsa were inhaled, and overall quickness on the court diminished in the 3/4 playoff.

But congratulations to Marv and Les — they finished the round robin in 2nd, but put the goods together to beat Andrew Smart and Patrick Au in the final match. Make sure you watch your e-mail on Wednesday for the next edition of FND!. See you next Friday…

The night ended as follows:

First:Marvin Mizinski and Les Kerluke
(2-1 in round robin)
Second:Patrick Au and Andrew Smart
(3-0 in round robin)
Third:Scott Sibley and Adam Jinks
(1-2 in round robin)
Fourth:Jim Miller and Rob Dubois
(0-3 in round robin)
