Proposed Club Expansion

Membership Updates

2012.01.12 10:30

Happy new year!

For those of you are wondering whats going on with the expansion plans, here is an update…

Dedicated Team

We have a small dedicated committee made-up of Rob Forrest, Mike Tooley, Shan Trouton and Ed Berwick. Ed has also been retained as project architect to lead us through the preliminary design. The lease negotiations with the District of West Vancouver have been completed and they have our signed copy of the license agreement in hand.

Expansion Options Being Considered

Option A

Option A represents the "full meal deal". It includes:

  • a new singles court,
  • a new doubles court,
  • a new fitness facility, and
  • a Junior lounge.

This option expands the club facility westward.

Option B

Option B is a "fiscally & park space tempered" alternative. It includes:

  • a new doubles court,
  • an upgraded fitness facility, and
  • a Junior lounge.

This option expands the club facility northward, and does not include an additional singles court.

March Membership Meeting

We would ask that members review the preliminary schematic drawings of the two options (see below) currently under consideration. We would like to get input and feedback from the members at a special open house meeting being planned for March 2012. At that meeting we will present draft information including:

  • preliminary pricing,
  • a business plan explaining the financial model, and
  • information on how to move forward with approvals.

Preliminary Comments

We encourage members to send their preliminary comments to the committee at expansion@evergreensquash.com, and to attend the upcoming meeting to provide their input.

It should be clear that there is no plan to respond to e-mails sent to the committee at this time. We are very interested in receiving comments/input to assist us in our planning, and will do our best to address them at the meeting.

Drawings

Like our board minutes, the drawings for the two proposals are currently considered private club information, which should not be publicly accessible.

To that end, to view the drawings, you will need to access a modified version of this page via your Gigasports login. So:

  1. Login to GigaSports using your username and password.
  2. Click News in the menu bar under the header image.
  3. Locate and click on the Expansion Updates item/link on the subsequent page.
  4. You will be presented with a modified version of this page with links to PDF files containing drawings presenting the two proposals.
