Why Would I Take Squash Lessons?

Coaching is much more than improving skills. A more important role would be to help you determine your squash goals, as a starting point, and then help keep you on track to achieve them.

For example, you might want:

  • to improve generally in order to have more fun recreationally,
  • to get fitter/stronger,
  • to use squash as cross training for your other sports,
  • to learn strategic and tactical approaches to developing a game plan,
  • to add some crafty, and effective shots,
  • to improve your drops, or
  • to train for a specific tournament.

Motivation is also a very important concern. It is hard to keep up with any program relying on self discipline. So, a coach can help a great deal by providing a structured, consistent and a regular plan to get you to your goals.

When you go on court to practice, do you really know why you are performing the drills you usually put yourself through. Or, of what benefit they might be to your actual performance in a match?

You might do the typical boast-drive drill and play games until you are exhausted. But, how often do you question the how, when, and/or why of these activities in relation to your objectives?

You might want to train on your own, or get coaching to help develop a customized, personal plan for serious game improvement, or participate in organized drills sessions, or special clinics. The approach, and methods, depend on your goals. Start by asking yourself why you like playing squash, and, what it will take to make playing the game more enjoyable for you.

Bottom line, here at Evergreen Squash Club, our coaching professionals can help your game, be it through skills and fitness improvement, or by helping you develop the discipline, mental and emotional, required to master the match environment and your opponent.

If you a are a new member, coaching might be a good way to give your membership a great start.

So give one of them a call, and find out what they can do for you.
