A long, long time ago, EVG was founded by a group of eager guys
They knew that given half a chance, that they could make the council dance
And give them land where they could build a club

Through winter, they would make the trek, Through traffic, rain, and auto wrecks,
To get to their old club, to play the game they loved
They thought that if they really tried, and found themselves a trusty guide,
That they could save a lot of strife, and play on the North Side.

Mitch went to docs at Lion´s Gate, said, “Here´s a deal that cannot wait,

To celebrate our opening with a show

They brought the people, gave them chills, by playing games to show their skills,
Morfitt, Foster, Jackson, Williams, Hiddleston, Moxon,
They were young and cool and quick and lean, they were fierce and tough, and sometimes mean
The mayor cut the ribbon and the games were on, and we had EVERGREEN!

Now, over the years we´ve grown a lot, We´ve added courts, we´ve paved the lot

We added treadmills, bikes, and weights, for workouts, warm-ups, (unless you´re late)
Some day we´ll be expanding yet again!

Directors came, Directors went, the annual dues were duly spent
Facilities upgraded, planners sometimes upbraided,
We joined the league, we kicked some butt, our tournaments all make the cut
Our club´s the best and it´s not luck, We are EVERGREEN
